What is Tripel beer?
For many types of beer we do not know where they originated. We know this about the Belgian tripels, yet there are many different opinions.
In the past, a basic beer was brewed, and of course a certain amount of malt was added. Now it is the case that twice as much malt was added for twice the beer. That is why it is claimed that triple beer was used 3 times as much malt.
I believe that single, double and triple beer stand for: strong, stronger and strongest. In the past, a cross was drawn on the wooden barrels with chalk. Taste of Tripel beers
The taste of a Belgian tripel is a combination of malty taste and a touch of sweetness and bitterness. But most characteristic are the spicy and fruity flavors, in combination with the warmth of the alcohol. It is often brewed with orange peel, coriander and other herbs.
Tripel beers have a high alcohol percentage, usually between 7 and 10% alcohol. They are top-fermented and usually have secondary fermentation in the bottle.
